flavors of Albany Park 2023

Flavors of Albany Park

Summer is officially arriving in Chicago June 21st! I'm sure its no coincidence it also happens to be Albany Park's biggest event of the year - Flavors of Albany Park. If you aren't familiar with the Albany Park neighborhood of Chicago, according to Wikipedia, it's "the most diverse neighborhood in the city, and one of the most diverse in the entire country". In fact, the tagline of the neighborhood is Global Roots, Local Heart. Flavors of Albany Park celebrates the diversity of the neighborhood. In Albany Park you can travel the earth via your taste buds, without ever leaving Chicago. It's delicious! And a great way to discover new restaurants and businesses in the neighborhood.

Miko's Italian Ice

In 2019, a week after opening our retail space, the chamber asked us to host Miko's Italian Ice, who's a bit off-the-beaten-path for this event. We had no idea what to expect, as our business was brand-spanking-new to the neighborhood. You can imagine our surprise when 200 guests came through our doors that night to sample Miko's delicious Italian ice. We had a lot of fun meeting new customers, neighbors and introducing our shop to residents from all over Chicago.

miko's at a. favorite designWe've been hosting Miko's every year since, minus 2020, of course. If you want to get out and explore Albany Park, I suggest grabbing your tickets now. We're on the Kedzie route and it usually sells out in advance. I mean, where else can you sample 16 restaurants in one evening?! That's right, the Kedzie route has 16 restaurants participating this year. Come sample the diversity of the neighborhood and explore Albany Park!

Not only that, but following the event there's a fun after party at Surge Coffee Bar & Billiards, which happens to be just around the corner from a. favorite design. It's the perfect event to kick-off summer in Chicago! We hope to see you there.
