week seven - 2025

Group of people writing love letters on a table filled with pens and paper/=.

Last week I had the pleasure of hosting the Mayfair Library for Booksperience. It was great! I instructed participants on how to write a love letter, we also discussed the book of the month and they asked me to join their club. Very fun.

Kelsey tabletop press with coaster plate and gold ink

I decided weeks ago to print a wedding gift for my aunt who got married over the weekend. Initially I was working on a custom monogram for couple to be and going to use it for coasters or notecards. As I was designing, I realized together their initials are WTF. While I was giggling about it, I decided that's not really how you wanna start a marriage. I mean I thought it was hilarious but I didn't want them questioning... WTF? Instead I created a coaster with their new last name. I busted out the Kelsey tabletop press for the job. Printing on the tabletop is a little more challenging for me. I don't have it all dialed in like my other presses and rarely use them. So what should've been a quick job, wasn't. One thing about coaster printing. They are truly a PITA (pain in the a$$). My goal was 25 for the gift, I went through 45. Not great odds. But it's worth it for small runs and people you love. Feel free to read into that... no, I won't print custom coasters but thanks for considering me for a moment.

wall of stickers

Thanks so much for coming out and supporting us this Valentine's Day! Susy, who is usually holding down the shop was traveling for her sister's wedding, so I got to work in the shop all weekend. You all kept me busy, especially on Friday. In between customers I was checking in orders, pricing stuff and getting stock out in the shop. Baron Fig is back in stock. As well as lots of new stickers and prints from fellow letterpress makers. We also restocked some of our Japan journals and pens, if you missed out on our first batch of Storage.it journals, come get 'em. I apologize if you came in and I had piles all over the counter. It was busy one in the shop!

Band Cousin Curtis on stage at Space

As far as personal stuff, Freaks and Skeeks (my skeeball team) won again last week and we're still in first place by one game! It's a miracle. But really it's not how you start the season, I'm hoping we can hang on for bit longer. Mr. Favorite and I went Union Pizzeria and Space on Friday night. We had a delicious meal followed by some live music. The opening band ended up stealing the show IMO. I loved them! Cousin Curtiss had great energy, thoughtful songs, even though it's not the usually type of music I listen to, I was in. I really love how live music has a way of healing. Something about it is just magical. When musicians really share their gift of music with me, I'm fully present, in the moment, not a care in the world. I love it and if I could, I would go to a show, maybe even two a week.

The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley

I listened to an amazing audiobook last week, The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley. It was so good, I wish I would've read it instead. Yeah, that good. I finally finished reading The Lost Apothecary. I kept picking it up in December to read and I always fell asleep too soon. I should've known better. December is all hustle. If I'm sitting still, I'm nodding off. It was good but no The Midnight Feast.

That's it for week seven. Congrats all! We made it another week in 2025.
