week thirty-one 2025
Wowie, wow, wow. Last week was a busy one!
Saturday was Stationery Store Day and you all showed up! Thank you.
My entire week was dedicated to prepping for Saturday. We had received several new orders the last month but I waited to release them until Stationery Store Day. I felt the need to redo the front window and desk, which led to redoing the gift shelves and the center table and removing a shelf but adding a cute secretary desk. Basically 95% of the shop was rearranged. I also spent a good amount of time cleaning and organizing the print shop too. I wanted the storefront and print shop shine like the diamonds they are. By Saturday, our space looked and felt stunning! By the time we opened, we had a good size line. An hour in we were almost completely sold out of the official Stationery Store Day merchandise. In my twenty years of business, I have never had such a successful retail sales day. We were visited by several hundred guests, letterpress printed hundreds of SSD keepsakes, sold over 1,400 products, all in seven hours. It was amazing.
As mentioned last week, Michelle Starbuck Designs created exclusive stationery themed accessories for us and you all loved them as much as I do. We sold out of the vintage crayon keychains in an hour and a half. At the end of the day we only had three paperclip necklaces left, we sold out of all the paperclip earrings and envelope necklaces. Michelle has the components to make more vintage crayon keychains (hooray!). We currently have a waiting list for the crayons, if you're not on it and want one, email us. If you missed out on the paperclip earrings, paperclip necklaces or envelope necklaces, let us know. Michelle has graciously offered to create more and already mentioned creating more stationery themed designs for us. I'm hoping we can make it happen in time for Small Business Saturday, November 29th. Stay Tuned!
Congratulations to our Stationery Store Day raffle winner - Kristie Hansen!
We had hundreds of entries but there can only be one winner. Congrats again Kristie!
This Thursday is our monthly Letter Writing Meet Up! Join us Thursday, August 7th from 5pm to 7pm and share the magic of snail mail with other stationery enthusiast. As always, we'll have our vintage typewriters for you to use and a good selection of our pens to try out. You can shop our stationery, or bring your own. No RSVP required, first come, first served. Stay two minutes or the full two hours. BYOB.
Random, randomness...
• I listened to Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. It's a mystery thriller. The story slowly unfolded with the main character time traveling back to key moments in her life. It was filled with plot twists, lots of foreshadowing and details, I really enjoyed it.
• Tom took me to a celebratory concert after Stationery Store Day! We headed to Union Pizzeria, the dinner and cocktails were divine. Despite being a crazy, busy week and exhaustive Saturday, we both felt energized and celebratory. Afterward, we stepped next door to Space for Merce Lemon who open for Kurt Vile and the Violators. It was the first time seeing Merce Lemon, they sounded great and the crowd loved them. We've seen Kurt several times and he never disappoints. He's an amazing musician, I love his lyrics as much as the songs themselves. If you don't know him, check him out.
That's it for week thirty-one! Thanks again for celebrating Stationery Store Day with us.
