week nineteen - 2025

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at Sauced Night Market! It's always a really high vibe show and a fun one. It was great to see so many familiar faces. We sold a whole lot of Mother's Day cards. I love knowing so many mom and mom figures got my cards this weekend. Thank you!
I've been gathering all my holiday and new year's ideas. Along with holiday, I’ve been brainstorming Stationery Store Day ideas. I’m also trying to figure out if we can create our calendar again. Last year when I announced we wouldn’t be printing it, I heard from a lot of you. I appreciate you all loving it as much as I do. The cost really skyrocketed and sales had been declining year after year. Last year we ended up recycling almost an entire box of them. It just wasn't feasible in 2025. I’m working with my offset printer to see if we can redesign it and bring the total down for a relaunch in 2026. Stay tuned!
Speaking of Stationery Store Day - save the date! Saturday, August 2nd 10am-5pm
We're still working on all the details for our lil shop. This year we'll be collaborating again with other local stationery shops. More details soon!
Random, randomness...
Last week was crazy busy personally. I had lots of commitments and appointments.
• I went to a friends house early in the week for dinner. We sat outside, enjoyed the weather and talked shop. It's nice to have friends who also have small businesses. It's easy to get caught up in the day to day struggles and feel like you're on your own private island when you own a business.
• Thursday night Tom and I went to see Amyl and the Sniffers at The Sale Shed. It was amazing. They totally rocked, I loved watching the mosh pit, from a safe distance and was amazed at the amount of crowd surfers. The Salt Shed staff was pretty cool, they didn't kick any of the crowd surfers out and made sure they got back on the ground safely. Far from the concert staff I remember at punk shows. I was impressed.
• My friends Manny & Myriam from Him + Her Vintage surprised me at Sauced on Saturday. It was so nice! After tear down we met up at our neighborhood bar and shared a drink. It was the perfect way to wind down after a show.
• Sunday I celebrated my mom for Mother's Day! She and I went for spa pedicures. It was incredibly relaxing and just what my feet and legs needed after standing on concrete for three nights in a row. Afterward, Tom and Scooby (my husband & fur baby) made mom and I a delicious lupper (lunch+supper). It was a delightful day off.
• I listened to Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. I know most read it in High School but for some reason, my school did not. While the outcome is truly horrific and sad, the diary itself felt hopeful to me. It was a beautiful story of human resilience and compassion for our neighbors, no matter the consequences. It was a story of family and building community where you're at, in the most frightening of circumstances. They made the most of what they had and even found ways to celebrate birthdays and holidays while hiding for their lives in an attic. And all told the perspective of a thirteen year old who is well beyond her years. It was beautiful and tragic. Give it a read or a listen if you haven't.
That covers it for week 19.
