week thirty-eight 2025

Every time I write the week number, I'm in shock. Week thirty-eight? How? Last week was filled with printing and prepping for shows and design and restocks, oh my! Sadly, I was terrible at taking pics and am writing this last minute at home so I apologize for the lack of images.

Apple Fest is coming quick! Friday, And we'll be a part of it this year. I spent a bit of time pulling all the products and printing some out of stock items too. I've had a gourd card sketch for years and never got around to designing it. Apple Fest motivated me to take some time this week to do it. Yay! I also designed a pumpkin spice and apple card for the event. Let's hope I can fit in the printing!

Another goal for Apple Fest was to create stickers. I slept on the sticker thing for years. This year I finally dipped my toe into sticker design for Stationery Store Day. They were a hit! This time around, I had five designs I wanted to create. Sadly, I wasn't happy with them all but I did complete four styles and am very excited to get them. They should be in by end of next week. Here's a peek of one, it's a pic of a vintage pumpkin blow mold. I love vintage blow molds and own several, including this cute guy, a smaller jack-o-lantern, a ghost and multiple jack-o-lantern candy buckets. We'll also have a ghost blow mold sticker. My new stickers will be making their debut the last week in September. Stay tuned!
We got several restocks this week - Baron Fig: several journal colors, Squire Pens in three new to us colors, Weekly Notepads, Mastermind Pads, Strategist cards too. We also got in several new styles of Richard Scarry stickers and Midori Join Dots Connecting Marker in four styles. Sorry I didn't take pics. You'll just have to stop in and see for yourself!
Don't forget! Our Monthly Letter Writing Meet Up is in two weeks. Join us Thursday, October 2nd from 5pm to 7pm and share the magic of snail mail with other stationery enthusiast. As always, we'll have our vintage typewriters for you to use and a good selection of our pens to try out. You can shop our stationery, or bring your own. No RSVP required, first come, first served. Stay two minutes or the full two hours. BYOB.
As mentioned we'll be at Apple Fest in Lincoln Square! Come celebrate all things fall in Lincoln Square. There will be entertainment, delicious food and local vendors, like us.

Random randomness...
• Monday Mr. Favorite and I went to see Spoon and Pixies at the Salt Shed. We both love Spoon and it was fun to see them again, they always put on an amazing show. The Pixies were great too.
• A busy print week also means lots of time to listen to audiobooks! I listened to two thrillers and started a third on Libby app. The Teacher by Freida McFadden was first. I've listened to quite a few of McFadden's books, they always have at least one great twist. This book is no exception and it kept me entertained the entire book. I'll be honest, there were some cringe moments but it was still great. Next up was Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson. It's the sequel to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. It was a fun YA thriller and I have a hold on the next in the series. I love a good YA Novel!
• Friday night my friend Curtis had a little birthday gathering. Andrew, his husband and our friend Myriam worked together in record time to make it happen. They have a gorgeous event space called The Secret Parlour, that was a perfect moody setting. I reached out to an amazing psychic I've had a couple readings with, Mari from 7 Moons Healing. She and her colleague were a hit! I also reached out to Top Notch Bake Shop for her specialty Tarot Sugar Cookies. Each cookie is a different Tarot card design complete with explanation. You display them face down and each person picks their cookie. Very fun and very on brand for the night.
That covers week thirty-eight!
